The Moravian Tile and Pottery Works is a historical site and museum in Doylestown, PA. They do demonstrations of historically used pottery and tile-making techniques and also offer tours and classes. The building is a striking Spanish Missionary style, so it was important to consider this in the logo design.

My first sketches inspired these first digital drafts. The architecture of the building struck me, so I drew inspiration there.

Due to the historical nature of this company, I experimented with many dramatic and period-inspired typefaces.

This gothic type inspired a square lock-up with the building silhouette that evolved into the final design.

To give the impression of handiwork and human mistakes, I traced the logo by hand for a crafted look.

I used vinyl sheets and a laser cutter to create a stamp that could be reused to create physical tiles with the company's logo, potentially for merchandising purposes.

As a cost effective proof of concept, I pressed my stamp into air-dry clay to simulate the stamp's use with ceramic clay.
